The Akimel O'odham (O'odham for "river people"), also called the Pima, are living in the United States in central and southern Arizona and northwestern Mexico in the states of Sonora and Chihuahua.
Historically, the O’odham inhabited an enormous area of land in the southwest, extending South to Sonora, Mexico, north to Central Arizona, west to the Gulf of California, and east to the San Pedro River.
